Frequently Asked Questions

What graduate programs does LUJ offer?

LUJ offers two graduate degrees: the Master of Business Administration (MBA) and the Master of Science in Leadership and Organizational Development (MS-LOD), both taught in English and designed for working professionals in Tokyo.

When can I apply to LUJ’s graduate programs?

Lakeland University Japan admits graduate students three times a year, with trimester start dates in January, May, and September. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so we encourage applying early to secure your place and allow time for document processing. See the admission requirements for what to prepare and how to apply.

Is Lakeland University Japan accredited?

Yes. Lakeland University is a fully accredited American institution, and Lakeland University Japan offers the same accredited graduate degrees in the heart of Tokyo. Learn more on the about page.

Are the MBA and MS-LOD classes online, in person, or hybrid?

Both the MBA and MS-LOD programs are taught through in-person evening classes at our Tokyo campus. The evening schedule is designed so working professionals can earn an accredited U.S. master’s degree while continuing their careers.

How long does the MBA and MS-LOD take to complete?

The MBA takes about two years to complete (36 credits) and the MS-LOD about 18 months (30 credits), based on a full-time load of six credits per term across three trimesters a year.

How much does tuition cost and how are fees paid?

Tuition is ¥70,000 per credit, so a full-time term of six credits is ¥508,000 including the facilities fee. Fees are invoiced each academic term and paid by bank transfer. For questions about payments and your options, contact the LUJ Financial Affairs office at info@japan.lakeland.edu. See the full tuition and fees breakdown for program totals.

Do I need work experience to apply?

Work experience is not a strict requirement. Admission is holistic and considers your full application, including a minimum 2.75 GPA or a GMAT score of 450, a statement of purpose, two letters of recommendation, a resume, and an admissions interview. The MS-LOD program is designed for current and emerging leaders, so relevant professional experience strengthens an application. Review the full admission requirements.
